Preventive Measures For Leukemia
As far as leukemia is concerned, there is no specific cause that has been associated with it. The scientists and the doctors all over the world know what exactly happens in leukemia and how it develops but have not been able to determine the exact cause which makes the prevention methods a bit blurry. There are a number of traits that are associated with leukemia from which some of the prevention methods have been derived. This form of cancer is not contagious and hence is nothing to be worried about, further, it is not one that can be inherited from the mother to the child. These traits make it possible for the doctors to understand that the only precautionary measures one needs to take is in terms of themselves as it cannot be acquired from other humans in any way whatsoever.
If we start from the children and make our way up the age ladder, we can say that the new born babies are best secured from leukemia if milk from the mother's mammary glands is made available to them. Leukemia can also be caused by the wrong overlapping or placement of the chromosomes thereby affecting the gene composition. There is little that can be done in this regard. In the working class, people who are exposed to high levels of radiations are at a risk. Those who work at nuclear reactor sites or where toxic vapors are released constantly need to wear adequate suits to prevent them from them. The radiations can be x-rays and the vapors include the likes of benzol.
If the measures are not taken, they stand a high risk of getting infected by leukemia. The levels of exposure determine whether the leukemia they acquire is acute or chronic in nature. Higher levels would lead to acute leukemia which is more rapid in its spread whereas low exposure to chronic leukemia which takes its time to develop and make the person ineffective.

Apart from the prevention from these factors which are subject to the external environment, there are some measures that form a part of our day to day lives. A general clean hygiene is recommended by the doctors. This is because it is the bone marrow which is related to leukemia and blood reaches each and every part of the body. People are advised to keep the various parts of their external anatomy clean. Parts like the mouth, the bowel area and the sexual organs should be kept neat and clean. Furthermore, restricting oneself from the use of substances like cigarettes and alcohol should be maintained as they have a direct effect on the blood stream. Indulging in them is alright as long as it does not go overboard and one does not become a chain smoker and an alcohol addict.
If indulging in blood transfusion, make sure that the blood that is being injected is free of any infection and that it is of the matching blood group. The instruments that are used to carry out such procedures should be clean and disinfected.
