Treatments Available For Leukemia
Leukemia is one of the many diseases which are prevalent amongst those who are constantly exposed to harmful chemicals and radiations. Because many of us work under such situations, its rate of occurrence is pretty high. When an individual acquires this problem, the blood stream starts to get affected because of the inappropriate functioning of the bone marrow. The bone marrow which is responsible for the production of the 3 basic entities of the blood i.e. the red blood corpuscles (RBC), the white blood corpuscles (WBC) and the platelets starts to produce immature and inappropriate quantities of the WBC.
There are a lot of treatments available for this medical illness. Because the ultimate consequence is the instability of the blood contents, therapy is done to stabilize it. The various methods that may be implemented are taking natural or scientific measures. Apart from the usual methods, some people also prefer to use the alternate treatments that are now available in different parts of the world. If the treatment is successful, the person can start leading a healthy life again but is advised not to work in the areas which can cause the problem to reappear.
The basic protocol followed is to kill the immature WBCs already present in the body and increase the count of the fresh and healthy lot. Chemotherapy, which is one of the methods for killing the infected cells of the body, is used for this. As we all know, this is a slow and a painful treatment method and the immunity levels greatly drop because the treatment also affects the healthy cells. Alternate to this method for curing leukemia is radio therapy which works in complimentary to the chemotherapy. The second method that can be followed is to completely replace the infected bone marrow with another one. For this cause, there is a need for a donor who would be willing to part with his/her bone marrow. The third method that is still very limitedly followed due to its unavailability is the rectification of the bone marrow. This method is practiced in very few countries and is a costly affair.

Because the problem is one in which the person suffering from it has reduced levels of effective WBCs, consequently the immunity levels fall which leaves him further exposed to many disease which may be acquired because of the inability of the body to fight the external environment. Along with them, there are chances of the patient getting affected by blood disorders due to its composition. Supplements are given to reduce the occurrence of such problems in the form of antibiotics.
It should be known that leukemia is a problem that has its effects over time and is as harmful as the other chronic diseases. Even though its propagation can be reduced by taking appropriate measures, in order to survive it, one of the many above said measures need to be takeen a good number of cases in which leukemia has been completely eliminated from the body of the patient.
